11/10/09 7PM My People: A Film Series in Color Connecting LGBTQ communities and broader Pittsburgh Topic - A Question of Faith An exploration of the experience of a LGBTQ person of faith in a country dominated by a religious demonization of homosexuality. Offering individual stories of people who consider themselves both LGBTQ people and people of faith and how they deal with tension between these aspects of their identity and sense of self. Films: Seoul to Soul Born in South Korea and raised in Utah by Mormon missionaries, Wade lived a tumultuous life of raving, addictions, and drug trafficking while struggling to understand his identity as a gay Asian American. Two-Spirit People A look at the berdache tradition in Native American culture, in which individuals who embody feminine and masculine qualities act as a conduit between the physical and spiritual world. All God’s Children A political, social, and religious analysis of sexual orientation within the context of the traditional African American values of freedom, inclusion, and the Christian ethic.
